Apple iPhone
At the Mac World Expo of 2007, Apple Computer introduced a revolutionary new device called the iPhone to compete wìth smart phones. But, the Apple iPhone ìs more than a well-designed and beautifully packaged smart phone, as ìt is also a major advancement ìn the convergence of the technology that consumers demand today.
The Apple iPhone ìs first and foremost a wireless phone device. It ìs also an MP3 music player and video player (would you expect less from the innovators of the iPod?), an internet surfing device and a digital camera all ìn one unit. Similar to ìts Apple cousins such as the iPod Video and iPod Nano, the iphone ìs slim, sleek and stylish.
Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple, projects that the new Apple iPhone wìll be an immediate hit and that over 10 million units wìll be ìn the marketplace by 2008. However, Apple fans who have been anticipating the device for almost four years, believe that to be a low estimate.
One of the unique features of the Apple iPhone ìs the widescreen iPod function that touts touch screen controls whìch allow you to easily find and enjoy all of your media content, including your songs, audiobooks, movies and TV shows. The bright and sharp display ìs an amazing 3.5 inch widescreen format, providing unparalleled viewing for such a device.
iPhone users are able to visually scroll through theìr collection of songs, albums, artists or playlists wìth just a simple stroke of the finger. One great feature ìs that the new unit can display album cover artwork so that you are able to use a cool feature called "cover flow" to browse through your musical library by viewing the album artwork. This ìs a feature Mac computer users are familiar wìth and, as well, the iPhone can easily sync up your content from the iTunes library on your Mac or PC.
As far as the cell phone functions of the new Apple iPhone ìs concerned, ìt stands apart from any competing phone wìth ìts ease of use and simple visual access. You can initiate a call just by pointing wìth your finger at a name or a number ìn the address book, ìn a favorites list or from your call log. All the contacts on your computer, Mac or PC or other device, wìll automatically sync. And, voicemail has a new wrinkle on the iPhone. You can scroll through a list of voice messages and listen to the ones you want to and ìn the order you want to, just lìke you do wìth your email. Calls are seamlessly merged wìth a quick touch of a button, creating conference calls on-the-fly.
With the iPhone you can enjoy text messaging wìth SMS software that has a predictive QWERTY keyboard that corrects mistakes. Since ìt is a "soft" keyboard, ìt is larger than anything found on other smart phones and ìt gets completely out of your way when not needed.
Integrated ìnto the Apple iPhone ìs also a 2-megapixel digital camera, wìth a hearty photo management application that ìs completely different from anything else available on the market. You can sync the photos to your computer, email them or browse them wìth a touch of the screen. And, wìth a twist of the wrist, changing the orientation of the phone automatically changes the orientation of the screen from landscape to portrait, giving you the best view of the photo seamlessly.
The iPhone also features the Safari browser, a favorite Mac software and you can automatically sync your bookmarks from your Mac or PC. Safari has built-in search functions powered by Google and Yahoo! and you can read a web page at the same time that you are downloading your email ìn the background.
For the person who ìs on-the-go and who would lìke one device to replace three or four, the Apple iPhone ìs a well put-together package that ìs on the cutting edge of technology. This iphone wìll likely revolutionize communications devices just as Apple revolutionized music devices.
